Obama, ’08’

Leute-
A congratulation to all of you who voted, and a congratulation to the United States and the rest of the world.
Barack Hussein Obama is the next president of the United States and Joe Biden is the next vice president.
Leute, I’m still in disbelief. And it’s finally reaching me, this euphoria, this belief, and this passion. The days before the election, I was incredibly nervous. I couldn’t bring myself to check the online polls on Tuesday. And I couldn’t bring myself to stay up longer than 4 AM on that Tuesday (we’re nine hours ahead today, because of daylight savings). But I was awoken on Wednesday at 7 AM by my father who told me the results.
I haven’t slept this whole week that much, but now I’m feeling a bit more energetic after some good food today. And now, it’s hitting me stronger.

Must go everybody, shall write later- Besos, I miss y’all… but I’ll see you in December, hope everybody’s doing well. If you can email me, I would be much obliged…

No cabe duda que el entusiasmo se sintió por todas partes del mundo. Me gustó lo que algunos comediantes dijeron. Acá te van unos cuantos:

“People all over the world are celebrating Obama’s victory. Sarah Palin watched the Russians celebrating from her house. … Sen. John McCain’s concession speech was beautiful. It was dignified, and it was classy. And I think the reason for that is he didn’t let Palin say anything.”
    —Craig Ferguson

“President Bush called Barack Obama to congratulate him. … Obama thanked Bush for his call and for all he did to help Obama get elected.”
    —Jimmy Kimmel

“Attention passengers: The Straight Talk Express is no longer in service. … Barack Obama is our new president. I think I speak for everybody when I say, ‘Anybody mind if he starts a little early?’ … At the end of the night, the electoral vote count was 349 for Obama, 148 for McCain. Or as Fox News says: ‘too close to call.'”
    —David Letterman
