It was only two nights ago, at midnight, that I realized that in exactly two weeks’ time, I would be on a bus, going to Heathrow, having finished my first term. Ah…
A few of us have been talking, and we’ve been mentioning that we’re going to have to get people to sleep with us (meaning in our rooms back home, that is, if you don’t share it already). We’ve also mentioned the fact that we’ll have to shower with people, and find people to be with. I have a feeling that Facebook will be one of my main destinations on any given day. 🙂
But… the fact that I will miss my housemates so much, doesn’t mean I’m not happy to come back home. I’ll miss AC, but I do need a slight break, get my thoughts in order, see the fam, see all y’all, drive, not have to be home at 10:15 every day, go to Shasta (yes!) and EAT.
Food. Leute, the food here is tolerable, but I’ll be happy to have proper nutrition for the first time in 3 days. Only thing is, I ‘ve noticed that whenever I go out, the food is too rich, or too heavy. Not a good sign. One week, I was pining until Bex and I made bed of rice together, with someone’s leftover chicken, croutons and cheese. After that, I was back to my old self again.
Leute, I really think boarding school life suits me like a black shirt suits everyone, that is to say, well.

I can do whatever I please, and I live with my friends, I’m independent. I also take care of myself (I did that at home, but now there’s a sort of responsibility) What I feared most, not being able to cope with stress, etc… has now been abated, almost becuase I know that I don’t have anyone to tell my troubles to constantly. You don’t want to overcomplain to everyone. 🙂 Though I do get my occasional glumness, I live with 50 others, and for someone of my disposition, brooding, when it is trivial, is easily dispelled by being with other people, and annoyance can be cleared away when you talk to others.
Leute, the other day, I was thinking about the outward ways I’ve changed. I told my friend, Dani (housemate, Canada) that I could probably tell her ten ways I’ve changed. And lo and behold, I could, radomnly. 🙂
Here goes:
1) I clean my corner
2) I do laundry healthily often
3) I dust my corner and vacuum at least once every two weeks
4) I drink more water
5) I put lotion on
6) I love and can’t survive without chocolate. Leute, this is big. I used to not like it, or I was able to survive without sweets. I no longer can. Well, at least with chocolate. 🙂 I can even take dark chocolate now.
7) I love tea (with milk and sugar, something I couldn’t take before)
8) I walk everywhere and don’t watch TV, at all.

And there’re more, but I can’t remember. I’m sorry if this sounds obnoxious, but it might be interesting to you.

I think one of the best things here is the people. I haven’t had that many political conversations, but there is that potential. Attitudes are different here than I expected, but I’ll leave that to when I talk to you face-to-face. However, I have become so tight with my house, and I love it so much, including my houseparent, Christian, the strictest houseparent on campus.
Here’re the dorms and a list of who’s in them:

1) FRONT LINE: Xavier (Quebec, 2nd year) ; Ben (England, 2nd year) ; Thomas (Denmark, 1st year) ; Andres (Venezuela, 1st year)

2) BRICKY: Nacho (Jose, Spain, 2nd year); Fakhrul (Malaysia, 1st year); Sondre (Norway, 1st year)

3) DORM OF NATURAL DISASTER: Will (US, 2nd year) ; Luc (Geneva, 2nd year) ; Mille (Sweden, 1st year) ; Boya (China, 1st year)

4) MONKEY: Naz (Malaysia, 2nd year); Benji (Geneva, 2nd year) ; Eric (US, 1st year) ; Jigme (Bhutan, 1st year)

5) DORM WHERE LADIES FIND HEAVEN (RIDICULOUS 🙂 :Pato (Mexico, 2) ; Wenjie (China, 2) ; Sevi (Germany, 2); Ahmad (Pakistan, 1, He just got here about two weeks ago! 🙂

6) CASTAWAY: Martin (Norway, 2); Abdoullie (Gambia, 2) ; Amer (Jordan, 2); Jack (Wales, 1)

7) DORM OF GLORY: Lelise (Ethiopia, 2) ; Roisin (Tanzania/Ireland, 1) ; Klaudia (Albania, 1) ; Dani (Canada, 1)

8) THE NAKED DORM: Ameerah (London/Nigeria, 2); Roo (India, 1); Lyds (London, 1) ; Aggie (Hong Kong, 1)

9) DORM OF LOVE: Melissa (Wales, 2nd); Olivia (South London, 2); Maren (Botswana/Germany, 1) ; Happiness (Ghana, 1)

10) THE DORM OF TENTATION!
